Pictures i took of the NINA, a recreation of the smallest ship to sail with Columbus. The Nina was in Clearwater harbor the week between Christmas and Thanksgiving. It was really neat to see the ship and I am in awe of the bravery of those original sailors to sail the Atlantic in that tiny ship. Length overall 63.6 feet, beam 17.3 feet, deck length 66 feet, draft 7 feet, displacement 100 tons, sail area 1919 sq feet. Built in Valencia, Bahia, Brazil, the Nina is an exact replica of a Columbus era caravel, built entirely by hand and using designs and construction techniques dating back to the fifteenth century.
