On September 14, 2008, a part of Hurricane Ike hit Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky with 75MPH winds. 301,000 homes and businesses were without electric, some for almost 2 weeks. My electric was out from about noon on the 14th till about 7pm on the 16th. I went for a walk in Iroquois Park, met a couple of people walking in the park and they took my picture beside this big tree that was down. There were a lot of trees down not only in the park but many trees down on power lines, on homes, blocking the streets. These are only 3 pictures of probably 150+ that I have taken of the trees down.

I was watering my plants and this praying mantis was on the flowers and got wet so i put her on the tree and then got my camera.

On Sept. 1, 2008 my friend Terry and I made a trip to Burnheim Forest for a sightseeing and picture taking outing. The praying mantis below is a variety i have never seen.
